Molina Healthcare is the fastest growing Fortune 500 company that offers Affordable Care Act (ACA) health insurance coverage. Their mission is to serve underserved individuals by focusing on those needing assistance, government funded programs, and tax credits like the ACA.
They began strong in Florida and have expanded to other markets. They now offer health insurance in California and are expanding to serve Orange County in the 2017 Open Enrollment Period.
National Leader for ACA Enrollment
3.5 million individuals nationwide are covered by Molina Insurance through government-based healthcare programs including Medicaid, Medi-Cal, Covered California and the Federal Health Insurance Marketplace. Molina Healthcare is now the national market leader in the United States for Obamacare Enrollment.
In 2016, Molina Healthcare California expanded their market in Los Angeles, the Inland empire, and in San Diego County. And, Molina had the lowest priced Silver Plan in Southern California.
States Offering Molina Healthcare
This fast growing carrier offers on-exchange products available in California, Florida, Idaho, Illinois, Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, New Mexico, Ohio, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Washington, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. They have a best-in-class broker support team, high broker and member satisfaction and a robust broker portal to help agents manage their book of business.
Molina Healthcare is moving as fast as they can to expand. In the ACA, they are a market leader in enrollments in the states where they are present. Molina Healthcare basically took over Obamacare enrollment in Florida. They will be expanding into Tampa and Jacksonville in Florida. Also, Molina has had great success in Texas, especially in the Dallas and Houston markets.
Currently, all Molina CA markets are in Southern California. They are in Los Angeles County (North and South), the Inland Empire, Riverside, San Bernandino and San Diego counties. They are expected to do extremely well in California in the 2017 Open Enrollment as they are moving into Orange County.
Molina Expands through Agent Sales and the Marketplaces
Molina Healthcare is fairly new to working with brokers. The ACA and broker sales have helped them move into fast growth mode. They had already specialized in Medicaid government assisted health insurance plans, so when Obamacare was instituted they were well positioned to increase their marketshare through the Health Insurance Marketplace.
Now, Molina is one of few carriers that has been profitable on ACA business. Many health insurance carriers are filing for 2-digit rate increases in 2017, and many are pulling out of the Health Insurance Exchange Marketplaces. While all this is occurring, Molina is firmly planted in the State and Federal Exchanges and is looking to expand.
