Entered Into Domestic Partnership

If you recently entered into a domestic partnership or are planning to, it may be a good idea to think through your health insurance options.

Generally, the only time you can enroll in a new health plan is during an open enrollment period. This means the earliest your coverage could take effect is January 1st of the upcoming year!

Luckily, your domestic partnership is considered a “qualifying life event.” That means that within sixty days of legally entering to the domestic partnership you can apply for coverage even if we aren’t currently in an open enrollment period.

So, if you or your new partner are without health coverage, or would like to make a change, getting covered can be as simple as taking ten minutes to get a quote, select your new health plan, and submit your application. If you’re uncertain about your needs or have any other questions, please give us a call. We have an amazing team of Covered California Certified Agents who would love to help you with your enrollment.
